Making the Perfect BrainMix
The Perfect BrainMix has music you love and activates a peak performance state of mind, powering you to the next level in your life.
Choose the right BrainIgnite NT Session
We have a comprehensive list of the different sessions that you can mix into your music here. Make sure you read through the description for each, and select wisely.
Choose your Music
You can submit up to 60 minutes of music for your BrainMix.
It is important to consider carefully what music you choose -- using the wrong music can make your BrainMix more a hindrance than a benefit.
Why?
If you want a BrainMix for studying, choosing hip hop or energy music with fast beats and lyrics will be a distraction that our technology can not compensate for. For a study BrainMix, you are best to choose music that has a slow tempo (50 to 60 beats per minute) with little or no lyrics.
How do you know how many beats per minute a song has?
Unfortunately, their is no effective or choice beats-per-minute song analyzer that is currently available. The best method is to simply tap along to a song and keep count over a 60 second period. After doing a few tracks, you will get pretty good at figuring this out quickly. DJs have been doing it for years.
Every BrainIgnite NT session is tagged as being for a specific mode -- Morning Transition (MT) -- Active (A) -- Work (W) -- Family & Social (FS) --Rest & Relaxation (RR)
For the session you want to mix into your music, look up the mode it's designed for and then use the overview we've provided below to help you choose the music that will best match the BrainIgnite NT session you've chosen.
Please note: you will be given the option to choose from the

Work Mode
This mode encompasses everything you would do at work, at home or anywhere that requires focused thought. Planning, investigating, writing, reading, communicating, inventing and designing, are all areas of work, in which a level 5 performance ranking will enhance your execution.
BrainIgnite NT sessions that are designed to be used while working should be mixed into a certain type of music for best results. You don't have to take our advise, but we recommend that you do.
When choosing music for this mode, look for slow tempos between 50 and 60 beats per minute, a low range of pitches, without too many vocals or distracting elements. Sound scapes are best with less pauses, breaks and extended periods of one instrument or sound playing.
Morning Transition Mode - Active Mode
These modes include physical activity, multi-tasking and active task execution. Whether it be at the gym working with weights, on the road putting on the kilometers, in the office working mindless tasks to completion, or at home cleaning and organizing, having the mental drive to optimise you’re body’s performance will give that time exceptional value.
Unlike Work Mode, you have a lot more freedom of choice.
General BPM ranges of typical exercise activities Aerobics: 135 Cardio: 120 to 140 General exercise: 106 to 122 Running: 120 to 160 Spinning: 180 Stationary bike: 112 to 129 Stretching: 40 to 60 Walking: 118 to 130
Family & Social Mode
When friends, family and loved ones are in your midst, you are usually in this mode, which involves conversation, laughing, connecting and emoting. This mode is one that few people set their mind to change.
You can choose whatever music you enjoy most for these types of settings. Work music, R&R music, or active music. The only advice -- choose music that is full of texture and sound. Tracks with skimpy soundscapes give our engineers very little to work with.
This mode is the opposite of Active. You might be reading, watching TV, meditating, stretching, engaging in pillow talk with your partner before bed, napping or sleeping.
Choose music that isn't just incredibly relaxing, but that also has slow tempos between 30 and 50 beats per minute.
